Sunda Strait is located in between Sumatra adn Java, posses area of approximately 8, 138 sq. km.
The Sunda Strait is narrow and shallow in the eastern part, but wide and deep in the western part. The strait connects the Jawa Sea and the Indian Ocean. It is filled with mixed saline water from the Jawa Sea during all months but November, so that virtually no influence of the Indian Ocean is noted in the western part of the Jawa Sea (Suriaatmadja 1956).
