The planning and development which led to to the Technical Program presented by Volume 24 of the GRC Transactions was carried out by the Technical Program Committee for the GRC 2000 Annual Meeting. The papers presented in this volume were reviewed by members of the committee and experts from the professional geothermal development community.
Los Alamos National Laboratory, with support from the U.S. Department of Energy, has been developing geothermal energy technology for nearly 20 years. The technology and experimental verification concepts developed by the Laboratory’s Hot Dry Rock Program have demonstrated tremendous potential for what is now known as heat mining- the creation of a man-made heat-exchange system in hot, fractu…
The rapid growth of geothermal electrical generation in recent years has been accompanied by rapid growth in our knowledge of the behavior of reservoirs in their natural and exploited states. Good textbooks and literature surveys exist both for the earth sciences and for surface plant engineering.
With the threat of depletion of conventional sources of energy there has been increased interest in harnessing geothermal energy for man’s use in many countries. However, there as comparatively few people with wide experience in the science and technology of developing this new energy resources.
The current energy crisis has generated an increased interest in alternate source of energy. Resources such as geothermal, solar, and ocean thermal are being actively considered for wide-spread development in the United States and many other countries throughout the world.
Geothermics can be defined as the study of the temperature distribution in the earth and the phenomena which influence that distribution. At the earth’s surface and in the atmosphere, complex meteorological events occur which are strongly influenced by temperature. These phenomena will only be mentioned briefly.
The outflow of heat from the Earth’s interior, the terrestrial heat flow, and the temperature field at depth are determined by deep-seated tectonic processes. The knowledge of the regional heat flow patterns is thus very important in geophysics and provides a useful tool for studying crustal and lithospheric structures and for understanding the nature of their evolution.
The aim of this book is to prevent a comprehensive survey of available energy resources and the technologies by which they can be exploited. It is intended for graduate and advanced undergraduated students of physical sciences, engineering, and environmental studies, and also for specialists within the energy industries who wish to become acquinted with sectors other than their own.
The monograph Geothermal Resources: An Energy Alternative by Harsh K. Gupta presents for the first time a readable, coherent account of all facets of geothermal energy development. The development of alternative, renewable energy resources during the past decade has been spurred by a crunch in the supplies of traditional hydrocarbon energy resources, which have previously been inexpensive and r…
Daerah penyelidikan merupakan bagian dari graben Kerinci yang mempunyai arah baratlau-tenggara, sejajar dengan arah memanjang pengunungan Baeisan. Satuan ignimbrit diperkirakan berumur Eosen. Aktivitasnya mempunya hubungan yang erat denga gerak-gerak vertikal.
