A 40 HP Diesel-powered fishing vessel dashed trough the Sunda Strait waves after leaving the West Banten coast village of labuan for Anak or lesser Krakatau. The little boat was bounding west. After two hours sailing the Sunda Strait current increased in streght and the wooden vessel had been dashed somewhat westward.
Krakatau's eruptive activity reawakened as submarinu on December 29th, 1927, and after several brief pf longer cyclus of erosion and denudation the volcano finally rose above sea level definitely between Augst 11th - September 10th, 1930 as Anak Krakatau IV.

Pengamatan Gunung Anak Krakatau yang dilakukan secara tetap dari Pos Pengamatan di Pasauran hanya pengamatan visual. Yang diamati adalah kegiatan di Kawah berupa kegiatan solfatara dan fumarola dan letusan. Sedangkan pemeriksaan kawah dan pengamatan seismik dilakukan secara berkala.
Krakatau was studied from September 10 - 12. The 1883 eruption produced a large non - walded ignimbrite deposit (ash - flow) which covers large areas of Rakata, Sertung and Rakata Islands. We landed on all three islands at accesible points and axamined coastal exposures of the 1883 deposit.
