Hydrocracking is probably the most versatile of modern petroleum processes. This versatility has been achieved by the development of specific families of catalysts, of processing schemes designed to allow these catalysts to function efficiently and optimal refining relationships between hydrocraking and other refining processes.
The processing of concentrates of ilmenite and titanomagnetite in an induction-coupled plasma torch is decribed. A mixture of FeO and TiO2 was produced from ilmenite and a mixture of FeO, TiO2 and Fe2O3 from titanomagnetite. The result indicate that plasma proccesing of these minerals may be useful in indutrial applcations.
