In order to strengthen cooperation among the APEC member economies in the field of energy, it was agreed to construct The APEC Energy Data Base on the Energy Demand and Supply Theme of Projects for Regional Energy Cooperation and the Energy Data and Modelling Center, the Institute of Energy Economics, Japan was declared for the Coordinating Agency for this purpose at the 2nd APEC Energy Project Group Meeting in Jakarta in March 1991. The APEC Energy Data Expert Group, consisting of representatives from member economies, was set up and the group discussed and determined the range of energy data to be submitted. This Group has developed the APEC common Energy Data Reporting Format and collected annual data for 1990 and data for the first quarter of 1991 which comprised the first trial. Annual data for 1991 and data for the first quarter of 1992 as well as some socio-economic data and 10 year time series data formed the basis of the-second trial run. In 1993 the group will collect annual data for 1992 and data for the first quarter of 1993 as the third and final trial run. This "APEC Energy Statistics" is made up of'the results of the second trial run compiling the original data submitted by each member economy using the APEC Energy Data Reporting Format, and the following seven tables produced by the Coordinating Agency are based on the above data for the year 1991 of the member economies. The tables are : (a) Energy Balance Table (b) Primary Energy Supply (c) Final Energy Consumption (d) Demand and Supply (e) Electricity (t) Stock Change (g) Non-Commercial Energy.
