The survey for placers along the coast of Yangjiang-Dianbai in the southwestern . Guangdong Province of China was carried out by the Second Marine Geological Investigation Brigade of the Ministry of Geology and Mineral Resources of the People's Republic of China with the assistance of CCOP. The location of the survey area is shown in Figure 1. The survey was conducted in three stages: (1) offshore geophysical survey; (2) sea bottom sampling; (3) offshore drilling. The purpose of the survey was to make clear the concentration of placers, geological setting, and mineralization through geophysi• cal reconnaissance, bottom sampling, and borehole drilling, so as to make preliminary geological and mineralogical evaluation and to define areas for detailed survey.
