Marine technology is a complex science and Indonesia, needs a realistic strategy for the implementation of the relevant technology. The strategy should be evolutionary and should coincide with a national marine program, and with current prevailing domestic and international conditions. There is no doubt that present day practitioners will influence Indonesia's strategy and that conditions are favourable to implant marine technology in Indonesia.
