The 32 IAGI and the 28 HAGI annual convention and exhibition
Senggigi is the prime tourist destination in Lombok Island, and one of the best places in Indonesia for urism. This resort is located at the west beach, and on 'the hilly part of Lombok Island. Based on its logy, this area has incompacted volcanic rocks from Tertiary and Quarterly ages. The increase of vironmental pressures causes instability to the rocks. The change in the equilibrium of the rock slope because a hazardous condition to people who come as tourist or who reside in this area.
Research has been conducted into this area, which focused on evaluating the stability of rock opes based on geological engineering approaches. Research has been conducted at two key locations, itich are Batubolong and Malaka. Research included scanline surveys and laboratory investigations.
Results show that the area has instable geological conditions with a high potential in rock failures. ese conditions will exacerbate when the environmental pressures increase, such as a change in forcesng within rocks due to changes in the angle of rock slopes. Remedial measures have therefore been receommended that grouting, retaining wall or reducing the angle of rock slopes should be conducted in er to have better rock stability.
