Brief Review on the Latest Investigations and Research Regarding the Geology and Volcanism of Krakatau in the Sunda Strait Region

Volcanology is ained at the scientific study of phonomona, which strictly speaking, only refers to manifestations of surface cruptions of molton rock or magna and their related gasos, with the structuros, deposits, and other offects produced thoroby. Until now physiographio descriptions of the Indonesian volcanoos, their eruptions and or porio- dic increased activities, the geomorphological landscapo forms, topo graphic surveys and regional nepping in combination with studies on the goology and gaochronology of the offusive products form the results of observational investigations constituting the greatest portion of the task and responsibilities of the Volconological Survey connected with the mitigation of volcanic hazards. Volcanology, however, also includes much of "plutonic ignoous goology and theoretical petrology.
