An eye-witness account on the eruption of the Mountain Krakatau on hundred yeansvaro is found in the form of a poen in two lithographed editions in Arabic script. Both lithographed Singaporean editions are found in the National Library, Jakar- ta. Each of then are called Inilah Syair Lampung Dinaiki Air Laut ("this is a poen about Lampung when it was flooded by the sen-water"s furthen mentioned as Syair A) and Ini Syair Lampung Karan Adanya ("This is a poem about, Lampung when it sank"; further mentioned as Syair B). The scribe of Syair A was Mohammad Saleh. From its colophon we can further deduce that he finished his poon which is 38 pages long in the village Bangkahulu, Singapore, on the date Zulhijjah ath, A.M. 1300 (=October 6th, 1883). This poen was later coriod in the village Gelam, Singapore, on the date Sufor And, A.H. 1302 (Dacarber 3rd, A.D. 1884). Syair 5 was written by Freik Ibrahin, is 20 pages long and printed on the dute Safar 18th, 1.H. 1306 (mOctober 24th.A.D. 1888).
