Volcanic Activity and its Implications; on Surface Drainege the Case of The Kelud Volcano, East Java, as an Examples
Even though Indonesia is rich in volcanoes (128 are considered active) and abundant rainfall (annual rainfall figures of ovar 2000 tum are no exemptions), very little research work has been done thus far as regards their imli cations on surface drainage; many quantitative data are sit needed.
By using the case of it. Kolut and the Biantas river, due attention is asked towards more systematic and co-ordi.. nated research. During the two last eruptions alons (1951 and 1966) an estimated amount of 282 million cu. waters of material has been produced which will affect the hy-drologic equilibriwa of the Brantas river substantially.
