This report is essentially a supplement to Tabulated Data on Wells Drilled Outside of the Principal Oil and Gas Ffrlds and the accompanying Economic Mineral Map No. 2-0il and Gas published by the Division .of Mines in Bulletin 118, Geologic Formations and Economic Develop• rnent of the Oil and Gas Fields of California, 1943, which included wells drilled as late as 1940. The new list includes nearly 4,000 wells-more than twice the number listed in Bulletin 118.
To make up Part A--Wells Drilled Prior to 194.9 of the current list, the basic list published in Bulletin 118 was used as a nucleus. Minor additions and corrections were made, and the exploratory holes or wildcats drilled between 1941-48 were added. A column headed Date started was added to indicate the month and vear drillino; of each well was begun, and some information was also added in the column Geology at bottom. It was not prac• ticable to canvass the drilling- oil companies for geologic data on the wells drilled prior to 1949.
