The Deposite from The 1815 Tambora Eruption a Preliminary Report
The eruption of Tambora volcano on the island of Sumbawa in April 1815 is generally considered as the largest and most violent volcanic event in recorded history. Estimates of the loss of life on Sumbawa and nearby Lombok are about 92,000, and the volume of erupted tephra is generally estimated of the order 100 km. In addition, the eruption had significant impact on the Earth's atmosphere on a global scale, and led to temporary climate cooling at least in the northern hemisphere for one year following the event.
