Some Features Of The Migration Of Microcomponents In Neutral Waters Of The Supergene Zone
Shvartsev, S.L., Udodov, P.A. and Rasskazov, N.M., 1975. Some features of the migration of microcomponents in neutral waters of the supergene zone. J. Geochem. Explor., 4:433-439.
The development of the hydrogeochemical method of prospecting in the last two decades had led to the accumulation of a large amount of factual material on the distri• bution of many chemical elements in subsurface waters of different origin. It appeared that there exist in the supergene zone• two opposite poles, upon approach to which the mobility of elements in waters markedly increases: ofle.of these is acid waters, the other
is alkaline waters (Krainov, 1971). Neutral waters, which occupy an intermediate position, are the least favorable medium for the migration of the majority of microcomponents, which in these conditions are subject to processes of hydrolysis. However, a number of geochemical processes in the supergene zone do, in fact, take place in media which are close to neutral. In this connection, the question of the migration abilities of microcom• ponents in neutral or close to neutral waters is of great interest.
In Table I we have generalized findings on the most frequently encountered contents of microcomponents in fresh waters of the supergene zone which are not connected with ore deposits, and which are characterized by a value of pH from 6.2 to 7.8 and Eh greater than+ 0.2 volts. This table was compiled taking into account many studies (Albul, 1969; Belyakova et al., 1962; Brodskii,
1964; Goleva, 1968; Udodov et al., 1962). In addition, data are adduced on the content of a number of microcomponents in the waters of gley geochemi• cal conditions which are marked by the absence of free oxygen, increased con• tent of divalent iron and humus substances, reduced values of pH and small total mineralization.
