A Review Of The Result Of Petroleum Exploration In The Offshore Areas Of Indonesia, 1966 - 1972
The volume of petroleum exploration activities in Indonesia has increased considerably in the past. seven years. hior to 1966 exploration activities were oarried out mainly by the State Oil and Gas Entreprises and the Contract of Workcontractors, and their activities were confined to several areas onland.Trough the introduction of a production sharing contract system an offshqre petroleum exploratio'n was started in 1967. Recent intensified activi ty in petroleum explcration in the country are mainly dua to batter and healthier working conditions.
Since the begining of exploration for petroleum in the offshore areas1 some 20 structure have been proved to be commercially productive,, About 250 offsihore wells were drilled and completed during tl1e period with almost 1, 5 million feet of total of depth drilled,, Several structures have been developed and• o:':fshore production started in August, 1971.. The results have proved. the ueef'u.Lnaea of the produc taon sharing system and the favourable condatio:,;.s in accelerating the invento:ri and the exploration of the country of the hydrocarbon potentials.
