The semi-detailed survey conducted during Phase III (September to December 1986) in the Long Laai and Long Bia areas bore on polymetallic and gold anomalies detected by the 1979-1982 exploration campaign. Gold washing sites had also been recorded.
These anomalies lie in the Mentarang volcano-sedimentary Formation,probably Lower Eocene in age. A major fault,Oriented north-northeast and south-soutwest with a domainant dextral strike-slip movement,appears to have affected the western intrusive bodies and controlled the distribution of the eastern volcano-plutonic bodies.
