GEOLOGY AND BAUXITE DEPOSITS of the CENTRAL RIAU ISLANDS INDONESIA
Bauxite deposits in the central part of the Riau Archipelago were explored in 1962 to determine their geologic relations,location, and extent.The deposits are similar but smaller and lower grade than those now being mined on nearby Pulau Bintan (Bintan Island),Which Contains the largest known reserves of bauxite in Indonesia.The material contains more than 50 percent AI2O3, less than 8 percent SiO2 and less than 15 percent Fe2O3.
