A Report on the progress of the Yogya Iron & steel project and the significance of the Iron-sand beach deposits for the iron & steel Industry in Indonesia
As was stated before in the informative paper on the Yogya Iron-Sand Project prepared for the Eleventh Session of the CCOP held in Seoul, Republic of Korea in August (1974), the reason for investigation and development of the Yogya iron-sand beach deposits into an integrated steel project in lieu of an ordinary iron-sand mine, was due to the specific characterictics pf the individual magnetite grains;i.e the presence of predomaint interlocked minerals-intergrowth of magnetite with gangue or so called unliberated magnetite particles.
