Oil shale potential as an alternative energi source in selected sites of Sumatra Island

In the viewpoint of energy resource interest, recently, the generation potential interest of oil shales, particularly as an oil source, has been considered significantly as a new unconventional energy source. Some time ago, research of oil shales revealed many of the factors controlling its information and diagenesis. Most such research has considered the main source of oil and condensate. Oil shales have long been of interest as a direct resource for hydrocarbons and as a possible source rock for hydrocarbons generated during maturation process.
The scope of the research is limited geographically in the selected areas of northern, central, and southern parts of Sumatra Island, especially within some intra-mountain basins, where oil and gas have been assumed to be generated from organic-rich shales, particuarly of lacustrine origin.
