Charcoal As Metallurgical Fuel For an Indonesian Fig-Iron Production
Since The Early Beginnings Of the Bronze and Iron age charcoal has been used for heating and reducing purposes. In the direct production of iron a mixture of ore and charcoal is placed on a charcoal fire in earth holes or on hearths and burnt down with natural draught with the direct result that an iron ball reduced in the renn fire is obtained.
