Karaha Bodas Company, L.L.C. ("KBC") is reque~ting p ro p os al s from potenti,11 Engineering, Procurement and Construction ("EPC") contractors to provide such services for the Karaha Geothermal Project. KBC has executed a Joint Operations Contract ("JOC") with Per usa ha an Pertambangan Minyak Dan Gas Bumi Negara ("PERT AMINA") to explore, develop and operate geothermal fields within a 208 square mile concession area and to sell the electrical energy and capacity generated from those fields to P.T. PLN (Persero) ("PLN") under a 42-year Energy Sales Contract ("ESC"). The ESC provides for fixed capacity payments and escalating energy payments. This Request for Proposal (''RFP") specifies two cases: A) one (1) 55,000 k v1 generating unit and an option for a second 55,000 kW unit at a single plant location; B) one (1) 55,000 kW generating unit and an option for a second 55,000 kW unit at a different, separate location. The first 55 MVv unit will be designed so that it can potentially accommodate a second unit on the same pad in a "slide-along" fashion. For example, one end of turbine building shall not be obstructed by auxiliary buildings or systems so that this end of the building can be easily exposed to add the new turbine bay. Mirror image designs are not acceptable. The potential exists that KBC. will exercise the option for the second unit to be located at a secon~ site within the Area of Operations and therefore respondents should price these multiple alternatives accordingly. The Project is located in West Java, Indonesia approximately 60 km south of Bandung. This area is somewhat ~emote and has significant topographical relief. The p0wer plant may be located at an elevation up to 1800 m (5,900 ft) but m o r c likely at approximately 1,300 rn (4,250 ft).
