Since the implementation of the Central Belt Project.* a number of new geochemical sampling and analytical techniques have been acquired and developed by the Geological Survey of Malaysia. In order that Survey personnel will be aware of the present capabilities of the Department. These techniques have been documented and compiled in this manual. The manual is intended as a reference guide for use by geologists who are presently using or planning to use geochemical techniques in the course of their work. It discusses all aspects of geochemical exploration from the initial planning stage to the final write-up and presentation of results. It is highly desirable that geochemical exploration procedures be standardized by the Department and modification introduced only when the reed arises. Geochemical data collected by different members using standard departmental procedures makes direct comparisons possible from area to area and facilities the compilation of composite geochemical maps. Since new sampling, analytical and interpretation methods will be continually adopted and developed by the Department, the manual has been prepared so that new information can be added to any one section without reprinting the entire volume.
