Geochemical Exploration 1974

This volume comprises more than forty papers presented at the Fifth International Geochemical Exploration Symposium held in Vancouver, Canada, April 1974. Although it is the fifth geochemical exploration symposium volume to be published since the original meeting was held in Ottawa in 1966, it is the first to be prepared under the auspices of the Association of Exploration Geochemists. The presentation of papers follows that of the Symposium. The opening address "Environmental Problems and the Exploration Geochemist" is followed by general session papers describing case histories and the uses of exploration geochemistry in several countries. This is succeeded by five sections with will-defined themes - Statistical Techniques (7 papers), Primary Dispersion (10 papers), Exploration in Lateritic and Tropical Terrains (10 papers), Exploration in glaciated terrain (6 papers), and Analytical Geochemistry (5 papers),. Many papers are concerned with exploration for mineral deposits concealed beneath various types of overburden in Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe and North America. In the statistical section, several authors describe the relatively new application of autocorrelation techniques to geochemical data. Sampling and analytical problems are covered in the section on analytical geochemistry.
