In recent years there has been a striking improvement in science and mathematics instruction in many high schools. This improvement is not universal, and colleges are faced with the problem of freshmen entering with widely varying degrees of preparation.
Geology, the science of the earth, is comparativly young but despite its youth it already has done much to stimulaste the stinking the thinking of mankind. Man always has been interested in the earth on which he lives and he long has speculated about places and region beyond the horizon.
