The Geology of The Dieng Area Central Java

Photo-interpretation of the Dieng plateau and surrounding areas reveals the presence of volcanic lineaments, i.e. lines which connect in the most probable directions existing craters, both active and extinct, lakes, explosion vents, either filled up with water or dry, and solfatara and fumarole fields. In this way some 15 linea-ments have been constructed. It is also apparent that hot springs and cold HS-bearing springs are inseparable with the geologic structure.

Owing to the limited and unreliable data, in-cluding dip and strike measurements, as yet the thickness of the volcanic pile cannot be approxi-mated.
