From late August to early September of 1982, a geophysical cruise was conducted by the Geological Resarch and Development Centre in coperation with Janhidros, Indonesian Navy using the survey vessel KRI-Burujulasad 931. The cruise was intended to determine the sub bottom sediments and the distribution of the volcanic products of the Krakatau eruptions.
In August, 1984, Robert Y.Koyanagi, Seismologist, and George Kojima, Electronics technician were missioned to Indonesia to evaluate the radiotelemetered seismic network (RTS) at Merapi Volcano Observatory located at Yogyakarta in Central Java.

The objective of any acoustical echo technique is the collection of information on the internal structure of a medium, avoiding destructive penetration. Examples of media which are being investigated intensively with acoustic waves are: the earths subsurface, transition zones of waterbottoms, human organs and tissues etc.
Much of the recent progress in the solid Earth Sciences is based on the interpretation of a range of geophysical and geological observations in terms of the properties and deformation of Earth materials. One of the greatest challenges facing geoscientists in achieving this lies in finding a link between physical processes operating in minerals at the smallest length scales to geodynamic phenome…
Seismic Ray Theory presents the most comprehensive treatment of the seismic ray method available. This method plays an important role in seismology, seismic exploration, and the interpretation of seismic measurements. The book presents a consistent treatment of the seismic ray method, based on the asymptotic high-frequency solution of the elastodynamic equation.
The wavefields generated by strombolion activity are investigated using data from small-aperture (120-600 m) seismic arrays deployed on the north flank of Stromboli and data from seismic and pressure transducers set up near the summit crater.
L'observation des signaux sismiques d'origine volcanique est une methode importante d'etude de l'activite des volcans.
